Five Ways to Set up a Effective Network Marketing Internet Business

By Abe Vu

A big issue facing network marketers is what to do when they run out of warm market? That's where the idea of generating your own MLM leads comes about. A lot of people want to know how they can combine the worldwide reach of the internet with network marketing in order to generate leads for their business and create a "network marketing internet business".

Let's start by breaking down the phrase "network marketing internet business" so you can truly understand what it means. Each of the words is vital. It's a BUSINESS (not a hobby) and it involves accessing a NETWORK of people (online or on the phone) and MARKETING (promoting your products, services, company, or yourself) while using the INTERNET.

What I'm working to do in this article is to share some ideas to help you in your efforts to build a network marketing internet business.

How to Build a Successful Network Marketing Internet Business

Secret #1: Be Social

Sometimes people get on the internet and just want to build their business hiding behind their computer. That is not true network marketing. Network marketing involves getting out and talking to people either in person or on the phone. The goal is to build relationships with people so they come to know, like and trust you.

In offline situations, you get to "be social" through networking events, home parties, and hotel meetings.

Your goal online should be to use social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn to start chats and email discussions with new people. If there is a fit for your business, then it would be a good time to arrange face-to-face meeting if the person is in your market.

The basic process is as follows. Make it a goal to meeting two new people a day online. Once you commit to that goal, you'll find a way to make it happen. If you're working online, the best place to start is either Facebook or LinkedIN. Most of Facebook is personal posting and personal intercations, so if you start there, you will find lots of opportunities to connect with new people. Start the conversation online through chats and emails, and then move into phone calls. Let's remember that building your business on the internet is still about people. It's about real people and striving to make connections with them. You do that by participating in discussions, and contributing to the overall goodness and value of the internet.

Keep in mind that if you would rather poke your eyes out than talk to people over the phone or face-to-face, then you need to get out of network marketing, or hunker down and learn to get comfortable with that.

Secret #2: There's more then one way to build your business. Don't get wrapped up in treating the internet like it's the only solution out there.

There are a lot of ways you can build your business. You can build online. You can build offline. And there are dozens of ways to build in each category. So, let's be clear ... the Internet is just one tool out of many that you can use. Not to burst your balloon, but the internet is not "the answer" in all cases.

In fact, one tool you'll use more than specific Internet "how to's", is any knowledge you can absorb on the topics of sales, marketing, and human persuasion and psychology.

Secret #3: Capture Information

Regardless of what you do on the internet, you goal should be to generate leads for your business. When you're generating leads, you must focus on capturing a visitor's name and email address. The reason? You will want to be able to follow-up with the person because of the general rule that it takes 5 to 7 exposures to message before people will take action. That follow-up can be sequenced to automatically send the person emails on a schedule when you use a service like Aweber.com.

The idea is that once you have a person's email address, you can stay in touch either manually or through an automated process. The goal in all cases is to provide value to the new prospect by way of information and ideas they can use (more about that later). Follow-up is critically important both online and offline. Staying in touch over a length of time impresses the contact with your seriousness about building a working relationship.

Secret #4: Offer Value

The whole goal of your follow-up process is to provide information or assistance to the person so they can solve a problem in their life. Whether it's a general problem (like "how to be happy"), or a specific problem (such as "how to program an autoresponder"), the more information you can provide to the person the better. The goal is to provide the information for FREE so that the prospect learns to trust you.

So let's take an example. Suppose your target market is frustrated network marketers who struggle with how to talk about their business without turning off friends and family. You can offer this market value in a variety of ways. You could do a phone interview with a top producer in your company to get his or her ideas. As you do the interview, you record it. Then, you offer it as a free giveaway on your website to anyone who gives you their email address! You can also offer value by sending emails with topics like "The 5 Phrases That Can Open Any Conversation", or "3 Things You Shouldn't Say when Talking About Your Business to Friends and Family." Get the idea?

Here's the secret: You're offering something valuable for free before asking for money. The more "valuable" the free information is to the recipient, the more they will be willing to trust your recommendations on what to buy in the future.

Secret #5: Have a Funded Proposal

If you've never heard of the idea of a "funded proposal", here's what it is: it is an integrated system designed to capture leads in your target market, provide value to those leads upfront, and entice those leads to purchase items that can help them solve problems in their life while providing cashflow to your own business.

You can build a funded proposal from scratch. It requires web design skills and marketing skills, or you need to partner with people who have those skills that you lack. Or, you can use a premade system like the ones provided by Ann Sieg, Mike Dillard, MyLeadSystemPro, and Jonathan Budd.

The added advantage here is that you develop an extra stream of income to help pay the bills while you generate leads for your primary business.

Wrapping Up

Keep in mind that your goal in network marketing is to sponsor new people into the business, and sell products. The focus of your efforts should be on sponsoring and recruiting because that will bring you the biggest financial rewards. You'll make money from product sales, but not as much as from recruiting. And, you won't make any money just fiddling around on your computer with Facebook all day!

Use the internet as a tool and connect with a proven lead generation system. Then, follow the good old 80/20 rule. Spend 80% of your time sponsoring and recruiting people, and 20% of your time building your network marketing internet business to get more leads.
