Accessories editor of British Vogue, Tamara Mellon, decided the market needed shoes that were both completely stylish and comfortable to wear. She discovered Jimmy Choo working from his small warehouse in East London after his reputation for quality preceded him.
Together, they created the 'Jimmy Choo' brand, and focused on creating footwear for women unlike any other. Soon celebrities were wearing the shoes on the red carpet and the company became world famous. Every woman wanted a pair of "Choo's".
In the early 2000s, the company expanded into making accessories such as bags and scarves, and thereby opened itself up to a wider audience.
More recently, Italian eyewear manufacturers, the Marcolin Group, signed a deal with Jimmy Choo to produce high quality eyewear under their name.
