Article writing is one of the last and great free methods that's also powerful and absolutely works. But the sad reality is that few marketers really understand or know how to write compelling and effective articles. Among amateurs, most probably incorrectly assume article writing is the easiest thing in the world to do. That's not correct, but you can still learn how to do it, absolutely.

First, remember that you don't want to sell anything with your articles. They have a purpose, of course, and that is to make people want to click through your links. Let the sales copy and site content do the selling for you. Your articles are also about helping people to understand, so the articles are educational.

Remember this, through your articles you're trying to show people that you know what you're talking about on the subject. You need to show that you are trustworthy. There's no reason to try to sell at this point. That will come later on. Concentrate your efforts on proving your own expertise in your chosen topic when you write your articles.

Your articles are not essays, so avoid treating them as such. The standard format and structure of the essay is this: "tell them what you are going to say, say it and then tell them what you said." And here's the article structure: "reverse pyramid." In an essay the least important information is put in the middle of the work. In an article, the least important content is just before the concluding paragraph. What this structure accomplishes is it gets the most important information read sooner.

Always write your introduction in very clear language. The intro need not be very long. The intro section is important, but it only exposes the article topic and briefly states what is about to be learned. Of course there are those who can be a bit wordy. And others are the opposite and are very brief.

What you want to do with the introduction is bring the reader into the article. Some people do this best with simple sentences. Others prefer to tell a story. But if you write, you'll see what suits you, and what does not.

People will not do business with someone who does not provide great content. You'll find that a lot of times it's true that you must give before you can take.

Every IM marketer can receive great benefits from learning the article writing skillset. In time you can get comfortable with declaring your points to get those clicks. After your budget can absorb it, should you find that writing articles is not your cup of tea, then you'll be able to hire someone else to do it.

It's also worth it if you don't have the budget to outsource your writing needs. Knowing how to approach the articles in the mean time can save you money and help you grow your business. You're not writing literature, but you do want to be good enough so people will read your material.
