Instagram: If you haven't heard of the insanely popular app by now, don't worry because it's not too late to get in on all of the photo sharing action! Photo sharing is yet another tool to help your business grow. Instagram began as a photo sharing app for iPhones but is also available on Android smartphones as well. Instagram is designed to make it easy for users to take photos, customize them with unique filters, and share them with their friends on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and other social media outlets.

Why is Instagram worth looking into for your business and marketing strategy? Quite simply put: exposure. Instagram has over 50 million users and, according to API, Instagram is adding new users at a rate of about 5 million per week. Facebook recently bought Instagram to the tune of $1 Billion dollars! Yes, that's "Billion" with a "B". So what does that tell you? It tells you that Instagram is a gem; there's much money to be made.

There are a huge number of other big brands and companies taking advantage of Instagram's success to include: National Geographic, CNN, Starbucks, NPR, NBC News, Pepsi, and the Grammys. If you have a product that you can showcase through photography, create an Instagram account and start taking pictures!

Brands use Instagram for:

- Event Marketing- promotion for an upcoming event.

- Hosting Photo Contests- customers photographs with or using your product/service.

- Finding Fans- enables businesses to search for people already using your product/service and other users with similar interests who could become future customers.

- Telling the Brands Story- telling customers who you are through photography centered on your brand's history, products, services, beliefs, and principles.

- Show Work Progress or Satisfied Clients- give customers a behind the scenes look into how your products are made, showcasing something unique about brand, and testimonials from satisfied customers.

However there are several ways to take Instagram a step further:

- Hash tagging your photos will increase your viewing audience

- Step by step photography to highlight new ways to use your product or service

- Adding other photo editing apps with your Instagram usage

- Use Instagram on your website, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms

Because images are universal, they don't need much interpretation. If you own a bridal shop, use Instagram to highlight your latest dress collection. Mechanic or tire shop owners can use Instagram to photography the latest rims and tires available and showcase them on customer cars, classic cars, and fancy sports cars. Landscapers, florists, bakers, chefs, artists, and professional photographers each enlist the help of Instagram to show off their visual masterpieces. Instagram increases brand exposure all over the world and using it is as easy as one "click".
