There are so many urban legends surrounding PPC, pay per click, advertising, and it they can seem to be both true and false. The reason for the seeming contradiction has to do with who is doing the talking. Advertisers who aren't faring well are the ones who tend to think that their experiences are the only truth. When in reality, there were reasons for their failures that they simply did not take the time to figure out. This is why they say so many negative things about how the system is rigged and too expensive and other untruths. You can make plenty of profits from your PPC campaigns but first you need to master the learning curve and learn to stay true to your goals.

For years, PPC advertisers at Google used squeeze pages, but that was thrown out several years. Now, the traditional squeeze page is out because it is too thin - not enough content or pages. Oftentimes it is preferred to learn from the wisdom of people who have been doing this. However at least there is comfort in knowing that you can get away with much less than you expect. Of course you must have the admin and contact pages, etc, and then you do internal linking followed by having your optin box some place where it can be easily noticed.

Small ad experience can be very helpful with the construction of PPC campaigns. On the other hand if you haven't got this experience you will need to take other measures. You really do need to have an idea bout how to write good short/small ads. If they remind you of classified ads, then that will be a good observation. So, what we want to suggest involves learning how to write short copy. Then, to reinforce what you learn, study the PPC ads in highly competitive markets. You'll see which ads are good but do not ever copy them completely in an attempt to help yourself.

Do not forget about adding negative keywords to all of your campaigns. You cannot have too many. As a matter of fact, some of my campaigns have had as many as 200 negative keywords. Think about the ways that your PPC keywords can be used when no clicks are needed. Then, go to Google's keyword tool and do a broad search on your terms. Look for anything that comes up that is a negative. It can be hard to think of all of them on your own. Your campaign will be spot on when you get plenty of negative keywords.
