PO Box Receptacle Provides Privacy For Your Packages

By Adam Ellis

If you want a PO Box rental, you must pay a rental fee. You must also show three forms of ID, at least one having your picture on it. Present them with your license to drive, passport, social security card and birth certificate. The postal clerk will need to see a picture.

You will be given a form to fill out at the post office. Alternatively, you can apply for one online. You must use your permanent address when you rent a PO Box. You must be over eighteen years of age.

It is rare, but some people have no mail delivery service where they live. In other cases, a business prefers to have mail delivered at the post office. Still other cases include the need for secrecy on the part of the applicant. This may be due to a romance, or wanting to keep his identity private for some reason.

Consider several of the available options. There are several different sizes. Someone who wants to have packages delivered will need a larger and higher priced box. Usually you rent one at the post office for a year at a time. Those offered in the private sector may have short term rentals available.

You may want to use a credit card. You may prefer to write a check. Cash is acceptable too. You will want to save your receipt when paying with cash. The clerk will give you two keys. You will be charged one dollar per key. They cannot be reproduced by a locksmith. Never lose both keys. If you do, you will have a fine imposed for doing so.

No courier deliveries can be accepted by the US Postal Service. There are some private companies that will accept those deliveries. Check to make sure before you decide to rent from them. Fill out the required paperwork, make payment and receive the number of your US PO Box rental. Pick up mail at your convenience any time during business hours.
