How to Generate Traffic to Your Website

By Monika Smith

Obviously, the online marketers website or blog is the mothership of the business. The place where you try to persuade visitors to either buy, or join your marketing list. You must realize that a good website, that converts, is essential to the process. But the site is only a one one part of the overall marketing process. You're going to need some traffic to that site, as well. If nobody knows your website exists, how will they know that you have great stuff to sell them?

Submit your website to secondary search engines, but let Google and Bing index your site through other means such as links you can help get noticed. Manually submitting with Google's submit form is not needed at all, and you can do it faster using social media techniques. It won't take very long to submit to several dozen secondary engines. You can definitely receive traffic from them and rank easier, the major engines will also view that as your site being more popular. There are tons of ways to get backlinks, and some are certainly more valuable than others. This will help you with Google because your backlinks will appear to be more natural, and they do take that into some consideration.

Make sure that all of the links in your site work. If some links are not working right, obviously people cannot go to other pages, or your offers. It just takes away from the positive impression, plus some visitors really get annoyed and leave, maybe forever. Obviously broken links to will not allow search engine bots and spiders from crawling your site, so if you use SEO link structures it won't help at all.

Have a good and memorable domain name. This is something that can really have an impact on how popular your website is. The ideal domain name should be related to your site's niche and easy to remember. Just as word of mouth is important for an offline business, so it is for a website. If your domain name has an odd spelling, is too long, or uses a lot of hyphens, it will be harder for people to remember and access. People who like your site may forward it to their friends, but only if it's simple to do. When a domain name is very long or difficult, people will tend to leave part of it off or make a mistake when they retype or copy it. The trick is to find a name that's clever but simple!

It's possible you may be thinking that you don't have to do much work to make money. The truth is that you do have to do some work-but you don't have to break your back. If you do that, with the right efforts you can see hundreds if not thousands of visitors to your sites. Be creative and enjoy the spoils of your efforts!
