Landing page design- Addressing your Audience

By Ivan Andrianko

Bad landing page design sticks out like a sore thumb on people's websites.

When making one for the first time, it can be hard to get down all basics of a landing page.

It is easy to get caught up in the specifics and end up creating something that proves ineffective, especially if it you don't know the basics.

When making an effective landing page, people stick to the principles below as they are the standard for what a landing page compelling.

1.List lot's of benefits

Being number 1 in your field is not enough. It is imperative that you give them a list of way your product is applicable in their lives.

So before you get into anything technical, tell your readers the features, and the benefits to those features.

It is your job to put it all together for them, because they will not connect how the features can be applied to their lives by themselves.

The degree at which you do this will define the effectiveness of your landing page design, compared to another.

2. "Easy on the Eyes"

People browsing online are not looking to get into a deep reading session. They are probably jumping around from one website to the other.

If you do not feature a format which makes it easy for them to analyze your page, they will find their way out quick.

Format everything so that your most vital messages are simplified and easily seen.

3.Above the fold

What are your most crucial selling points?

You need to vigorously introduce your product's top resources right away, these are the first things that people will want to see.

If your asking them to buy something, or leave their contact information, the battle is winning them over as quickly as you can, and interesting them in reading a more detailed elaboration of your claims.

4. Don't let them escape

It is absolutely critical that your landing page design is focused on introducing one thing and one thing only. If you spread yourself apart with too many options, it will distract them from your main purpose and they will be disconcerted as to what you are trying to do.

Keep on track with your final purpose in mind, so that everything incorporated in your landing page design is specific to this one cause.

Stick to one goal and limit their options so that everything points in the direction of you custom landing page's ultimate mission.

Remove anything that could potentially lead them off your page, especially external links. tsk tsk.

It's been a smooth ride straight to the bottom of your page, now it's time for the winning shot. You established your service, they know why they should want it, the deals closed and everything has gone as planned.Correct?

No!

Wrong.

If you squabble their patience, then all will be lost. Their attention will go to something else and you will lose a customer.

You don't want this to happen, as it would be counter-productive to all the effort that you've put into your landing page design. Tell them what to do, and don't waste time, or you risk losing out to a competitor who gets it right the first time.

Have you noticed the effects of smart phones on society. As smart phones progress, a growing percentage of people have no use for a computer these days.

If you haven't noticed, smart phones are starting to replace computer's as far as some people are concerned.

You need to take this into account and make your landing page design easily maneuvered via smart phone.

Unless you implement the necessary actions to adjust to this, you will be unable to tap into these prospects which visit you on their phones.

The time is now to adjust for these people's needs, or else you risk losing out on a substantial amount of business to your competitors.
