Three Suggestions to Persuade Clients and Potential Customers

By Syble Delcarmen

Regardless of how new your business might be, it's still important to think about a customer mailing list.

There are some things you can do after each post that will encourage more comments from readers. Having taken the time and effort to build connections with your site traffic will pay off in times like this. When you interact with readers or your blog audience, then they have a chance to know something about you. One approach is posing some topically relevant questions after each post. Even come out and tell people to comment rather than being weak about it.

Was there ever a time when you wished you could hear the answer of a person who owned a site or product to a particular question you wished to ask? This occurs all the time online and people truly want a response from the person in question. There's nothing wrong with using a support desk software, though it does make things harder for the visitor. But what can be a total let down is reading the message that a member of the team will get back to you. If you're too important or busy to answer support tickets, then at the very least don't tell people someone else will do it. All you have to say is that you'll get to them as soon as you can. It's great if you have a list because these are the people most likely to comment. Informing them each time you publish a post is nothing new with email lists, but you can make it work for you. Your ability to word the email copy so it builds curiosity is important and makes all the difference. You can even set the stage for what you want people to comment on through your emails. This is something you can do in tweets or at Facebook if you use those sites.

You know how busy you are with running your business site and possibly still working the regular job. It's demanding for all of us, but you have to be available to your audience. It's common knowledge among experienced IM people that sometimes you have to go with blind faith. So all this basically means is you must dedicate yourself to your site or blog no matter what's happening in life. You know how it feels to comment and nobody replies to you. Your commenters are helping your business by doing it, and it's just a little good payback.

Creating a solid relationship with your customers and prospects is easier said than done. The quality of that connection is completely dependent on you. If you're willing to do what it takes, then your business will not only grow but will thrive.
