Network Marketers off and online are familiar with the importance of building a list of leads. If you are not building online then this prospect list is often made up of family and friends, whereas on the web your list of names is more likely made up of subscribers who have asked for information from you. Unfortunately, what most of the 'plug and play' lead creation systems don't mention is that you don't really own your contacts! Your prospects belong to the system, not you! What does that mean? Well let me clarify this:
Some lead generation systems will hold on to your leads in their own database. You can get access to your prospect's names and email addresses through your members area, which is great, but if you ever switched to another system, or if the system got shut down, you would stand to lose absolutely all of those prospects! Imagine having to begin again from scratch!
The good news for Online MLMers is that there are systems available now where the opt in forms actually direct subscribers into your personal auto responder list. You will have your own account with GetResponse or AWeber and the contacts can be added to YOUR personal list and YOUR own database.
The number 1 purpose of building a list is to build a community of contacts who have an interest in what you have to tell them. By not gaining ownership of your own list of names you are leaving your people in the hands of the system! So before you buy in to any prospect creation system, be completely certain that you could own ALL of the leads that you collect!
