E-commerce - Articles Vs. Blog And Ping - Which Is More Effective At Building Your Site's Search Engine Position?

By Christine Jackson

I think it's time for numerous Affiliate Marketers (AM) to reconsider their methods for building their web sites Search Engine position. I've been utilizing Blog and Ping techniques for around a year now, but blog and ping is gradually losing its effectiveness simply because a lot of AM's are utilizing the method.

If you've been living on the dark side of the moon, then you might not know what Blog and Ping is about. Well, in a nutshell, blog and ping is a method for increasing your websites position by creating blogs and utilizing software which automatically posts to those blogs along with links back to your main website. The blogs then ping Blog services to notify them that several new content is available. The ping services then attract Search Engine spiders and before long, your website is spidered.

This solution worked like like a charm about a year ago (2005), but is losing its effectiveness because all of the blog and ping tools make mediocre content that's all based on Search Engine scrapes or RSS feeds. You end up getting a blog website packed with pointless info with links back to your web page. The Search engines have caught on and they're able to filter out the bad content. Actually, it might really be damaging your web site. There's no proof yet, but I would expect that all of the SE's will soon start penalizing web sites that are attempting to boost their position through blog and ping techniques.

That brings me to articles. Around four months back, I wrote an article and posted it to ArticleCity. After I submitted it, I forgot about it. Only yesterday, in the course of a moment of boredom, I thought of that article and made the decision to do some research. Had anyone picked it up? A quick search on Google indicated that the article has been published on 802 different web sites! I even noticed that after Google's last update, the Page Rank (PR) of my affiliate marketing web site went up very well from 3 to 5.

This was with just One Article submitted to simply One Article Site that I put together in 30 minutes. I was floored.

Considering how much time I have spent configuring blog and ping software, how many needless domains I have bought to make traffic all look like it is coming from different directions, how hard I've worked attempting to look for content for the B&P software, etc.... I would've been much better off just writing good, useful articles.

Another huge reason to choose Articles over Blog and Ping is content longevity. Your article will be posted onto many web sites. Perhaps hundreds of websites. That content is real and meaty, exactly like what Google and the others are trying to find. It's not bogus content which will get yanked by the SEs. It means that algorithm update after algorithm update, the articles that point back to your website will remain within the search engines. This is HUGE.

Over the previous few months, Google has made several updates to their algorithm which led to Plenty of websites losing their rankings. My site, which relied on One Article and no blog and ping really went up in the rankings.

So if you've been utilizing Blog and Ping to promote your website and you've been unhappy with the results, this is the time to take into consideration writing articles and publishing them on the Article websites.

Writing an article and posting it to one article submission site is easy. Writing an article and posting it to many hundreds of article websites is time consuming and difficult. Because of this, I just bought some software known as Article Submitter Pro that automates the whole process. Article Submitter Pro can submit to more than 700 article directories and is a snap to set up. If you would like to try articles to promote your web page and you want to make the process as simple as it can be, then I highly suggest that you check out Article Submitter Pro to make the entire process as simple as possible.

Here's to a successful and lucrative day!
