Selecting The Right Catering Service

By Harold Spencer

There is no need for you to micro manage everything for your guests to enjoy themselves. Employ professional caterers to help you out. But how to get the right catering service? Below are some of the things to consider when you are about to contract a caterer. Focus on this to-do list so you can spend more time with your guests.

Finances: Get the caterer's detailed price list. Note that a sit down meal costs more than a buffet. A wider selection of menus will necessarily cost more. Ask them for the cost estimate based on the nature of the party you want, and whether they can work within your budget.

Ambiance and Settings: How will the caterer decorate the place and how much will it cost? Will the decorations include balloons or lighted candles? Fuss with details like table cloths, silverware, and the likes. Is the catering company adequately provisioned to realize the atmosphere that you want? The caterer's area of expertise should be a perfect fit for your kind of party. Or vice-versa.

Personnel: How is the catering company staffed? Do they have the right skills or training to provide satisfactory service? The catering outfit that you chose must be able to serve the guests according to your requirements. Their service should encompass attending to your guest during the event and the clean-up process after the event. If need be, the caterer must have bartenders on hand to service the guests.

The menu: Lastly, what food options will the caterer offer? You cannot taste the food beforehand, so be inquisitive of the food that will prepared - local or foreign components, organic, fresh or frozen? Make sure that the caterer has suitable food for your vegetarian guests. Do they have refreshments and desserts ready to serve? Last of all, will they require kitchen space in preparing the food? Are they ready to bring in cooked and ready to serve food in case there is no kitchen space that they can use?

Finding your kind of caterer is relatively easy if you know the basic requirements. Posing the proper questions to the caterer to let them know what to do may be the key to a successful and enjoyable celebration.
