All About Ray Ban Junior Glasses

By Christian Halstead

Ray Ban Junior glasses are the fashionable range of ophthalmic eyewear for children from the world's number one selling glasses brand.

Ray Ban have been around for a number of years. Their inception was in 1937, when established and leading German eyewear manufacturers, Bausch & Lomb, were approached by Lieutenant John Macready. Lt. Macready was in the US Air Force, and wanted glasses that protected his eyes from the sun as he would be flying in its path for long periods of time.

He also wanted the glasses to look stylish, in keeping with the elegant military style of the time. From this, the first aviator sunglasses were born. The success of these brought about the Ray-Ban company (named so because the lenses were so good at protecting against the sun's rays - banning Rays).

These glasses sold so well, Bausch & Lomb decided to create a whole new company to market them. The name Ray-Ban came about when they were trying to think of a way to show that the lenses of these glasses protected from the suns rays like no other.

Now Ray Ban are bringing this legacy to children, so they, too, can feel stylish and comfortable wearing prescription glasses.

Often children will feel embarrassed wearing their glasses, but the cool factor of Ray Ban combined with the fact they are worn by many famous celebrities ensures against that. The quality of Ray Ban junior glasses is also another great factor, meaning kids can take a tumble or have an accident and the glasses should remain safe.

When purchasing glasses for a child, there are several extra factors to consider. Comfort should be of utmost importance, so the child is not constantly removing their much needed glasses. Plastic lenses should always be chosen for children as they are stronger. Glass lenses are easily broken, and also dangerous to children's eyes. A ball in the playground may shatter the lenses if they're made of glass.

Because a child's face is not developed fully, extra addictions are needed to hold the glasses in place. Adjustable nose pads are recommended, as a child does not have much of a bridge to their nose. The arms should also grip round further behind the ears to keep them in place, or for very young children a strap may be needed.

The great thing about Ray Ban junior glasses is that they are available in a multitude of colours for children to choose from. There are bright colours like reds and greens, or more subtle shades like black and brown. So if your child wants something fun, or something a little more grown up, then they can have it.

The glasses are like the adult range in that they come in all different shapes and sizes, as well as metal or plastic. This means there will be something to suit every individual child.
