Tips on Making Your Blog More Appealing to Readers

By Victor Hood

All bloggers know that you can make money from your blog if you get and keep the traffic coming. You need your readers because without them, you wouldn't be making any money at all.

There are many ways to get them there, but how to keep them returning is the real question. If a reader isn't impressed by your blog at all, then they'll leave your blog, never to return again.

With them goes their blog's traffic that you could have benefited from if they'd linked to you. To keep the traffic there and help you earn money, here are some tips to make your blog more appealing.

The design of the blog is the most common mistake bloggers make. Aside from informative and interesting content, readers would come to an inviting space to read it.

The blog's design should be both comforting and inviting. You need to be certain you haven't included anything that would annoy them and make them leave. Don't include graphics that are too distracting or colored front that's hard to read.

A few animated graphics are fine, but don't have flashing ads and glittering graphics detracting from your blog's message - or your strategically-placed advertisements. It's fine to use colored font for your posts, but make sure it's easy to read.

For example, it's hard to read a pale yellow font against a pure white background. It's also important to avoid the fonts clashing with the color of the background. Because clashing colors can give visitors headaches, they will leave your site and won't even bother to bookmark it.

Content is another common mistake bloggers make. Updating often is not something most bloggers do. Your readers will forget you and won't return to your site if you only post once a month. Post to your blog at least three times a week to keep human visitors and search engine spiders coming back.

A mistake that some bloggers make is providing only text content to their blogs. Try mixing it up with multi-media formats every once in a while. You can provide some interesting things like audio files, pictures, and videos. Your visitors will come back to see what else you've been up to if you offer a little variety.

Sticking to your blog's niche topic is also important. For example, stick to Homeschooling if that's the topic you're blogging about. Unless it relates to homeschooling, providing information about a celebrity's latest excursion will turn off most readers.

To make your blog successful in bringing you money, make sure you make the blog appealing to your readers. If you want your chances of making money from offers and ads to increase, make sure your readers will keep coming back.
